Certified… But Still Unemployable

I have seen people pass exams, collect badges, update LinkedIn,  and still struggle to secure offers.

This may sound uncomfortable, but it needs to be said.

You can have certifications and still be unemployable.

I have seen people pass exams, collect badges, update LinkedIn,  and still struggle to secure offers.

Why?

Because employers are not hiring "certifications."

They are hiring problem-solvers.

In cybersecurity, especially in Governance, Risk, and Compliance, companies want someone who can:

• Identify real business risks
• Explain security gaps clearly to leadership
• Apply frameworks practically — not recite them
• Protect revenue, reputation, and regulatory standing

Passing an exam proves knowledge, but demonstrating impact proves readiness.

Can you walk into an interview and confidently explain how you would reduce organisational risk?

Can you translate technical findings into business language?

That is what separates certified candidates from employable professionals.

This is why my focus has always been practical application, structured thinking, and real-world readiness, and not just theory.

Do not chase certificates, but chase competence.

Get hands-on experience.

That is what gets you hired.

See you at the top.
