How to network on LinkedIn
Some days ago, I shared why networking matters as a cybersecurity expert.
Today, let’s talk about how to do it on LinkedIn the right way.
First, optimise your profile.
Your headline should clearly say what you’re learning or transitioning into (e.g., Cybersecurity GRC Analyst).
People connect faster when they understand you.
Second, don’t send empty connection requests.
Add a short note: why you admire their work, a post they shared, or a skill you’re learning.
Third, engage before you ask.
Like, comment thoughtfully, and share insights from what you’re studying. Visibility builds familiarity.
Finally, offer value early.
Share resources, volunteer on small projects, or contribute to discussions.
Trust grows when value comes first.
LinkedIn rewards consistency, not perfection.
Next time, I’ll show you how to network using cold email even if you’re a beginner.
