Now, sitting in the comfort of your home, your interviewer looks at you and asks:

“Tell me about yourself.”

Pause for a moment—how would you answer?

Many candidates stumble here.

Some ramble off-topic, others recite their entire resume, and some get too personal, talking about hobbies and family.

But if you want to stand out as a cybersecurity expert, here’s what you should do:

• Research the company and role before applying.

• Tailor your resume and answers to match the job description.

• Structure your response professionally.

Here’s an example:

“My name is Mary Smith, and I’m a cybersecurity analyst with five years of experience in GRC. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and security system implementation. I stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and believe my skills will add value to your team.”

After answering, flip the conversation by asking:

 “What do they aim to accomplish with the project, and what common challenges may you encounter when starting this job?”

This positions you as a proactive and valuable candidate.

- What is a risk management framework, and why is it important?
-Walk me through the RMF process.
- How do you prioritize security controls in RMF?
